Linda Gallery holds the largest sculpture exhibition featuring works by Chinese artists

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Linda Gallery is hosting the largest sculpture exhibition featuring works by Chinese artists Cai Zhisong, Ren Zhe, and Jia Wei at the Townhall Indonesia Design District (IDD), Pantai Indah Kapuk Dua (PIK 2), Jakarta.

"Don’t miss the opportunity to appreciate and collect their rare and limited works," said Linda Ma, the owner of Linda Gallery, in a press release on Sunday.

The art exhibition titled "A Symphony of Art" is open daily to collectors and the general public until September 1, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM WIB.

"This Sunday, we are holding a special session for art collectors during the 'Collectors Night' event, starting at 5:00 PM," Linda stated.

Linda explained that the works of these sculptors have been collected by significant collectors worldwide, including individuals, art galleries, and museums. The works of these three great artists have also achieved high sales records at global auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's.

"Their artworks are difficult to obtain because they are rare and made in very limited quantities. Therefore, for art enthusiasts and collectors, it is essential to come here to see the beauty of the sculptures by Cai Zhisong, Ren Zhe, and Jia Wei," she added.

Upon entering the exhibition space, visitors are immediately greeted by a display of beautiful sculptures made from fiberglass, resin, bronze, stainless steel, and even LEGO blocks.

The three artists have different characters and inspirations when creating their sculptures, which generally range in size from 1 to 2.5 meters.

One of the sculptors, Cai Zhisong, graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in the sculpture department and taught at the same institution from 1998 to 2008.

Cai Zhisong received the Taylor Award in 2001 at the Paris Autumn Salon at the age of 29, which was the highest honor won by a Chinese artist in the past 103 years.

In 2011, he was invited to the 54th Venice Biennale and was selected as one of the "100 Art Leaders" globally on the cover of "Art Actuel" in France in 2012.

"Cai's sculptures are known for using high-quality raw materials, and the complexity in the production process is very high, evident in the details of the arowana, deer, and peacock, all made from titanium, bronze, and stainless steel. Just look at the intricacies and details," Linda explained.

Cai Zhisong's art is heavily inspired by nature, depicted through animal forms closely linked to Chinese culture.

Meanwhile, Ren Zhe is known for his stainless steel warrior sculptures. A graduate of the Tsinghua University Sculpture Academy, he draws inspiration from heroic figures portrayed in epic myths and ancient tales.

"His works are collected by institutions around the world and have won prestigious international awards," Linda said.

"Ren has held solo exhibitions in China, New York, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—especially at the Taimiao Temple in the Palace Museum in Beijing in 2019 and at Hong Kong Exchange Square in 2017. As a sculptor, he has consistently maintained the character of his sculptures for nearly 20 years; owning a Ren Zhe piece is an investment," Linda elaborated.

Jia Wei, on the other hand, is a sculptor who is also skilled in painting.

"The main character in his works is a little girl named Ruhua. The artworks in the Ruhua series provide a glimpse into Jia Wei's perspective and are a visual embodiment of his critique of the world around him," Linda disclosed.

Jia Wei has faced challenging times in his life, but painting and sculpting have opened pathways for him to heal from life's storms.

In this exhibition, Jia Wei showcases unique artworks made from hundreds of thousands of LEGO blocks, creating sculptures that appear lifelike.

In addition to the works of these three sculptors, visitors can also view paintings by artists Raduan Man (Malaysia) and Allen Teng (Singapore).
