Changing the Red Guard

China-born, Austria-based artist Jiang Shuo was watching a Chinese Communist propaganda film four years ago, and finding it ridiculous. As the Technicolour farm workers and soldiers danced across the screen, she realised that they were reflections of her former, idealistic self.
