About the Artist
Agapetus enjoys presenting levels of narrative that are often unexpected and have a tendency towards surrealism. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad (some of which have been listed here. Agapetus likes to portray animals in fantastical forms, his favourite subject being cows. The theme of his works though humorous in appearance, is often linked to the human conditions such as alienation, conflicts and lack of connectivity. The strange menagerie of Agapetus’ creative works are often anatomically challenged yet their bizarre looks carries a message, such as a bronze cow with 2 milk producing udders in “The Professional?” and a shark painted with tiger stripes in “Predator”, a super hybrid formed from two topmost predators from land and sea.
